Our online Coffee Shop has all of our current selections, but here’s the basics.
Rouge Roastery Blends
Big Dave’s Hammerin’ Espresso – a rich dark espresso blend that is roasted as dark as we can get it. This blend and roast really brings forward the dark rich coffee flavor that you want from an espresso. It has a wonderful balance of dark coffee with a good crème finish. Perfect for making cappuccinos, lattes, or a whole pot with crème and sugar.
Routiki’s Rich Kona Blend – a high blend of some of the finest beans in the world. Why a blend of coffees? In essence it’s the price. Kona coffees are from Hawaii and are the only coffee’s grown on American soil. If you’ve never had a Kona coffee, it is a very rich, full, nutty flavor, with very delicate flavors underneath. It’s an amazing coffee, so Routiki has me blend it with a very mild South American organic coffee to really let the Kona flavor shine through.
Rouge Roastery Flavored Beans
Big Dave’s Bag of Angry Beans - A half-pound bag of spicy beans from South America and Southeast Asia, mixed with a hint of cayenne pepper. It's a nice mixture of smooth spice in the cup, but finishing with a kick. Particularly good with cream and sugar - hot and sweet. Just like Big Dave himself.
Sweet Julie’s Ginger Beans – Julie is a sweet girl who finds beauty in mixing textures and patterns. To create a blend that matches Julie’s sense of style, we’ve reached for the rich flavors of the orient. This blend of Asian beans has a hint of ginger flavor to give them a real taste of the orient. It's an unusual flavor for coffee that works surprisingly well. The sweet ginger aftertaste and aroma gives the beans a unique kick that you won't get from any other cup of coffee.
Got a flavor you like, but it's not listed? Want chocolate or brandy flavored beans? Contact us and we'll hook you up.
Traditional Single-Origin Beans
These are beans that are from one place, hence the name “single-origin”. Each region of the world has a slightly different flavor to their bean. Try a cup from Sumatra and it will be very different in flavor from a cup from Mexico and a cup from Ethiopia. There is a world of variety out there… this is your chance to taste it.
Organic Coffees
Arguably, whether a coffee bean is organically grown or not, will make little difference in the flavor of your cup of coffee, but it has a huge impact on the land where the coffee plant is grown. Organic farming practices mean that no synthetic fertilizers, or pesticides have been used in the production of your coffee, which also forces the farmers to utilize sustainable farming practices to grow their crops year after year. It also means that no genetically modified organisms are used in the coffee production. Most of these coffees are also single-origin beans.
Fair Trade Coffees
The coffee business has a history of paying farmers wages that don't allow them to support their families. The Fair Trade program ensures that coffee farmers directly receive fair wages for their hard work. When a farmer grows coffees organically under the Fair Trade program, they are paid an even higher premium for their certified organic coffees, and that’s like having their cake and eating too.
Decaffeinated Coffees
There are several different ways to decaffeinate coffee beans. The natural process submerges and then steams beans so they swell, elevating the moisture contained in the bean in order to "break loose" the caffeine. The beans are then washed in an ethyl acetate wash... I know what you’re thinking, "Wait a minute, there, Chief! That sounds like a chemical!" Well, yeah, but the ethyl acetate is not from chemical synthesis. It's of natural origin, obtained from the fermentation of sugar cane. So it's still all natural. Finally, the beans are washed with water, followed by steam to clean the inner parts of the bean. The beans are then dried to match the moisture level they had prior to the whole process.
Doohickies
Ok, so these aren’t really coffees at all, but rather mugs, coffee makers, t-shirts and other fun stuff that we think you’ll like.
